What Others Say
We had a very comfortable stay in the Kauri room which was well equipped. We explored the courtyard/garden where we found amazingly sweet strawberries. We ate at the Indian restaurant next door which was delicious and convenient too.
Magnificent. The detail of the restoration of the old building is perfect. Modern updates to the suites make it absolutely comfortable. Louise and Zoltan went out of their way to make our visit lovely. My wife would have stayed forever.
We liked the character of the hotel. Well done with each room having a different feature from the others. Plus it is small and has that “homely” feel generated by the management who staff the hotel.

Everything about this small boutique hotel is beautiful. It has been tastefully restored to a very high standard – even has a wonderful clawfoot bath.
Absolutely wonderful. Super-King size bed with great pillows and luxury linen. We stayed in the Kauri room and it was fantastic.
The Old Oak is probably one of my favourite places that I’ve stayed in in New Zealand. Our room was the Ponga room, located at the top of this historic building. Beautifully furnished, clean and warm.
At the Old Oak one finds a beautifully renovated historical structure from the 1860s transformed in such a thoughtful and aesthetically pleasing manner. across from a lovely bay or estuary with wrap-around balconies on the upper floor that provide stunning views.
